I had a D%26amp;C done on June 5th to remove my 9 week old fetus. I started taking birth control the next day. How long till it is effective? My doctor wants me to take birth control for three months before we start trying again. But she doesn't want me to have sex till july 3rd!D%26amp;C birth control?
It can take sometimes up to 3 month for BC to become effective but it most cases a month!
Listen to your doctor i had a D%26amp;C as well, he didn't want me having sex because i was still healing and was 'raw' in there and didn't want to introduce anything that might cause infections!
I know it sucks, but take it easy on yourself!
We couldn't try for a whole year! So consider yourself lucky!D%26amp;C birth control?
I'm thinking your doctor might have told you no sex til July 3rd for the same reason they do not want you to have sex for 6 weeks after giving birth... to give your uterus time to heal without introducing 'foreign bodies'.
In the case of child birth, when the placenta pulls away from the uterus, it's like ripping a scab off your skin exposing a raw wound. In the case of a D%26amp;C, medical instruments have been used to scrape the inside of your uterus giving it a wound like a road-rash. If you have sex, DH's 'foreign bodies' are going to travel through your uterus on their way to the falopian tubes looking for an egg. While your uterus has one of these raw wounds, the doctor doesn't want 'his' 'foreign bodies' in there.
I would listen to your doctor on this. It can take up to a month for some forms of birth control to be effective.
sounds like good advice. It usually takes 1 cycle to be 90 some % effective.
take the advice, its good advice and am sorry about your baby x
