How can I remotely control my home P.C. with my Laptop?

I have a program that ';allows you to use your mouse and keyboard to control a home PC remotely. It means that you can work on a remote computer, as if you were sitting in front of it, right from your current location. ';

I tried to install the software, but when I tried to download it into my Laptop a window popped up and in the title(top blue area) it says ';Connection';

And in the window it says ';VNC Server:';

There is a box next to it where I am suppose to type somenthing and I do not know what I am suppose to type.

Also, under the box(where I am suppose to type info) it has:

( host:display or host:port )

What does it mean? I am just totally lost.How can I remotely control my home P.C. with my Laptop?
I had not yet fully use this method, but you could try this. If you had an installer of OS XP. If its bootable you could check on its components installation. Check on its details on networking. You will see an option of Peer-Peer, check on this. All you need is a wire connecting your laptop and to the network hub of your computer. Name your Computer that it may recognized you during connection. also name also your laptop like station 01 the other is station 2.

My friend does this excellently. I wish you could talk to him.
