Are there any Dogde auto-techs out there that know how to calibrate an a/c control head?

I have a 2003 Dodge Intrepid. I was told by the dealer that my a/c control head has shorted out and will cost $371 to have it replaced including labor. It's easy enough to get to and i can save $200 if I do it myself, but I was also told I have to have it calibrate it. Does it involve turning a few dials or switches or do I need something hooked up to my computer? If I buy one from a junkyard will it be calibrated already? That would really save me a lot of money. Are there any Dogde auto-techs out there that know how to calibrate an a/c control head?
The system recalibrates every time the battery has been disconnected, and you should disconnect it while playing in the dash anyways, so unhook battery, replace ATC head, reconnect battery, turn on key and you will here all the doors in the HVAC system going through the motions. Thats it.Are there any Dogde auto-techs out there that know how to calibrate an a/c control head?
How to recalibration the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system.

Tests/Procedures: 1. Remove the Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse, located on the in car fuse panel, for one minute. After installing the IOD fuse, do not start the engine, just turn the key on and let the HVAC system recalibrate itself.
