Was control over women's sphere the basic thrust of 19th C feminism?

This is the question i got for my ap history class, and i have to write an essay about the question. i'm a little confused of what to say. could anyone give me some ideas? Was control over women's sphere the basic thrust of 19th C feminism?
For women's sphere, they probably mean women desiring significant power in the home and over the lives of their children.

This contrasts with some other women's rights movements, which are more focused on gaining power within the ';men's sphere';-- in other words, equal opportunity in the workplace.

You should look to the documents in your class, and see what it is that the women were fighting for.Was control over women's sphere the basic thrust of 19th C feminism?
Oppresion was the thrust of 19th c womens lib.

They were not allowed to vote until the 60's.

It was also legal to rape your wife, legal to beat your wife %26amp; legal to read your wifes mail. It was impossible to get a divorce. Job oppurtunities were limited, and wages were lower than mens. Women also had no rights in the justice system, until very recently. In fact, all of these things are recent in history and we have a long, long way to go.
No. I would say the thrust was getting legal rights equivalent to men, including owning and inheriting property and voting. I take ';women's sphere'; to mean education of self, ability to hold jobs, and to form women's organizations for improvement of self.
