My a/c max is coming out of my defrost. They said I need a new electronic control head for a f150. ?

I have a F150 Lariat. When you turn on the Max a/c it comes out of the defrost. We took it to get checked out they said it was my electronic control head. Which of course if I buy it new its about 500 bucks. Does anyone have any other ideas what it might be.My a/c max is coming out of my defrost. Well it could also be the Electronic Control Head. We used to do this with levers and cables , now electronics and vacuum controls run everything because we are lazy. Welcome to modern technology. Check the vacuum hoses for the ventilation box under the dash. Make sure they are all in place, and not disconnected, leaking, damaged or plugged in some way. Many times the hose which feeds vacuum to the system (the one that runs thru the firewall) will be cooked up from engine heat and will cause it to leak. You can also check the vacuum motors (which control the air regulating flaps in the heater box) by hooking up a hand-held vacuum pump to each one , and then applying vacuum to see if they operate appropriately. unfortunately their probably right on this one they do cost a lot and that is what usualy causes that to happen,if you want to though you can get a usd one for about 75 bucks from a salvage yard,thats a lot cheaper than 500 bucks and it will probably last a long time in it,i run across this a few times on those,good luck.
