Can a broken blower motor cause my rear defroster and A/C control to not work?

It is a 1998 Cavalier. Everything worked fine until one day the blower motor quit, A/C control doesn't work or even light up anymore, and the rear defroster quit %26lt;and led light on the button%26gt;.

No power to the back wiring of the rear defroster either, whereas before it would spark a little when I disconnected it. Smelled a bit of burning smell before all this happened. i used to have to tap the blower motor to get it to work, so thats how I knew it was on its way out. Thanx for any help in advance:)Can a broken blower motor cause my rear defroster and A/C control to not work?
I would check the blower motor relay. But it sounds like you may have more than that for a problem. No power from the climate control panel at all? Can you change the zones and hear the pneumatics working? I would be tearing into that dash and check the wiring harness also.

You said you smelled a burning? possible wiring or switch problem also. The blower definately probably smoked. Just for the heck of it, did you check the blower resistor? located where the blower is. it should be behind the blower held in with 2 7mm bolts(or 8mm). pull it and look it over for corrosion and/or burned spots. I just changed mine because the blower quit working on lower two speeds. fixed it.Can a broken blower motor cause my rear defroster and A/C control to not work?
Check the fuses.
i had the same problem you are having years ago. eventually after having to tap on the blower motor it quit working. so i had to replace it for around $75-$100. what has probably happened with your defroster and ac control is you have blown a fuse when your blower sent a negative back feed through your system when it officially quit working. replace the blower and put new fuses in those that are burnt out. Also if fuses continue to blow you have a bigger problem. they don't just blow for no reason. hope this helps.
it wouldn't affect your rear defrost but it would affect the ac and the heater it would prevent the air from blowing oout. as for your rear defrost check your fuses and make sure that the glass is pluged into the little plug-in in the back. my dad installs them and that can be the problem sometimes
