Why does the auto climate control ALWAYS turn on A/C?

I've noticed in several cars that I've driven which have automatic climate control, that the A/C is always turned on by the system when set to auto--even if it's 20deg outside. Why does the auto climate control ALWAYS turn on A/C?

Well, the heat coming from your heater core is pretty hot. Around 190 degrees. Your system has to cool that down a little to maintain the 74 degrees you set for the cabin.

The computer can't monitor and control the temperature of the outside air coming in, but it can easily monitor and control the output of your A/C. That's why your A/C, and your heat for that matter, are always on.
maybe because - auto climate to A/C. See the relationship.
