I used to work on something like this. If the hardware has GPIB support, i suggest you to use borland C++ builder. It has cool interface and easy to work.Is there any guidebook to learn how to control hardware by c programming?
Your question is too general. What type of hardware are you trying to control? What C programming tool are you using? What type of computer are you working on?
All software runs on hardware, so all software, in a sense, controls hardware. You need to be more specific about what you're trying to accomplish.
