Can you control a R/C toy through using two cell phones??

what i did was create a 5 block distance bewteen the TX(the remote control) and the RX(The toy car). i left a friend with a cell phone and the toy car and i was 5blk away with the remote control and a cell phone, i called him and held down the forward button. it didnt work. i would though that the signal would be able to be picked up by the toy car through the phone. how come this doesnt work? what if i used walkie talkies??Can you control a R/C toy through using two cell phones??
The remote control for an R/C car uses radio signals. This is what R/C means, radio controlled. You can't pass a radio signal through a cell phone is this fashion. It won't work with walkie talkies either. First, the cell phone or walkie talkie has no way of receive the out-of-band R/C signal. The car cannot be controlled by the cell phone or walkie talkie signal. Basically, what you are trying to do is like shining a flashlight on one cell phone and expecting to see the light come out of the other cell phone. Sorry, it just can't be done.
