My A/C unit will not come on. The digital control panel will not light up either. The unit cannot be turned on/off. I have already reset the breakers. The unit is in good condition, is only 2 years old, is in a cool, dry location, and is plugged in. What is wrong with it and how do I fix it?A/C Unit will not work, control panel is blank, what to do?
You haven't said it this a window unit or central unit? How often do you change the filters or clean the unit itself? It is very possible that you have fried some wires, who installed the unit? I know what you have written but I will ask anyways, is this an air conditioner or is this a heat pump? You have said control panel or do you mean thermostat? You really need to add some details here.
Note; The brain of your system is the Thermostat, nothing works unless it is fuctioning properly. Take the plate off of it and look at how many wires there are inside there should be no more than three (but if you see more I would contact a air. conditioning place) I would replace the thermostat if I couldn't find any other reason. What happens when you shut down the system and leave it off for an hour or so? I just re-read your question. I am sure that the inside unit if it has been working along and now doesn't and the out side unit also does nothing. You may have an electric problem. You have said that you have checked all of the breaker switchers I guess that you mean that you have checked the two that you know about, but often there are four. There is usually a breaker in the area where you have the inside unit but there is also the inside breaker panel so there are two there and the out side unit has a breaker often put close to the outside unit this makes number three and then there is the outside box that makes four. Lodgic has it that if there is no light then there is no juice for the thermostat. It costs nothing to check for additional breakers and to reset them. If this fails then look very closely at the wires that come into the thermostat and make sure that one of them isn't burned. You might check out and see if the replaceing of the thermostat would solve your problemA/C Unit will not work, control panel is blank, what to do?
Find a switchplate somewhere in the room?
The outlet the unit is plugged into may be connected to a light switch and you may not have noticed the connection b4? Is there a switchplate nearby that doesn't seem to do anything?
I have a switchplate like that in my house. The top outlet is connected to a light-switch but the bottom outlet is set up normally with a consistent current. And it is possible that you have a plug specifically for the ac unit so a switch was put in to handle surges and save money. And my AC at my old job was only turned on by a light switch. Someone may have flipped it off by accident.
