Now the heat or a/c comes out as if on defrost although at times it will, without any intervention, change to the floor discharge and at times to the body. I have no idea if this direction control is vacuum, electric, or both. I've looked for both loose electrical connections and disconnected vacuum lines. Anyone got any ideas? I'm stumped.I have a 3.8 liter 1997 windstar on which the a/c heater discharge position control has stopped working.?
this happens during acceleration due to a vacuum dropI have a 3.8 liter 1997 windstar on which the a/c heater discharge position control has stopped working.?
Sounds like a broken small plastic vacuum tube under the hood somewhere.
assuming that you sometimes get heat when on a/c and the other situations you mentioned it looks like your control head is going out. on the other hand if it just is the blend doors what you can look for is the far one on the passenger side is for the vent (outside air) and recirculate (inside air) the middle vent is to control wether you are using heat or a/c the one located in the center with the control module just above and to the right of the gas pedal controls the floor and defrost . hope this helps - good luck
